The Windows 10 interface combines elements from both Windows 7 and 8 operating systems. There are, however, many new features offered with this release. For more detailed information about Windows 10, refer to Microsoft's Windows 10 website.
Windows 10 is compatible with all university-owned Windows computers that meet the system requirements.
Windows 10 is compatible with all primary Texas State IT services. Before upgrading, be sure that software specific to your department is tested and works with Windows 10. See your department Technical Support Person for more information, or contact ITAC with questions.
Windows 10 is considered the primary operating system for Texas State-owned and managed Windows computers. However, ITAC supports both Windows 10 and Windows 7 (SP1) operating systems for Texas State business purposes and provides best effort support for personal computers.

How to Get Windows 10
Windows 10 is available on new Texas State standard Windows computer orders. Also, Windows 10 is the only Windows Operating System option for ITAC's re-image services. To learn more, see the Windows 10 Operating System webpage.
Texas State's recommended minimum hardware specs for Windows 10:
- Processor: 1.5 GHz (gigahertz) dual core or better
- RAM: 8 GB (gigabytes) or more
- Available hard disk space: 30 GB or more
- Graphics card: Microsoft Direct X 9 graphics device with WDDM driver or better
