Recommendation

Microsoft Office 2016 for Windows is compatible with all university-owned Windows computers that meet the system requirements.

Office 2016 for Windows is compatible with all Texas State IT services.

Office 2011 for Mac Yes Files created in Office 2011 for Mac can be opened and edited in Office 2016 for Windows. Also, files created in Office 2016 for Windows can be opened in the Office 2011 for Mac.
Office 2013 for Windows Yes Files created in Office 2013 for Windows will open and function as expected in Office 2016 for Windows. Documents created in Office 2016 for Windows will open in Office 2013 for Windows. Both 32 bit versions can be installed side-by-side, but this is not recommended.
PDF Import and Export Features Yes Office 2016 for Windows files can be saved or exported as PDF files. Additionally, non-password protected PDF files can be imported and edited in Office 2016 for Windows.
SharePoint Sites Yes

 

Software Center Yes Office 2016 for Windows is projected to be made available via Software Center in late 2015.
