Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Review Date: January 15, 2015

Product Information

As of October 2014, Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) is available as a free upgrade to replace OS X Mavericks (10.9).

Recommendation

While Yosemite is not a necessary upgrade to perform Texas State business, users are welcome to upgrade as long as their equipment meets the minimum hardware specifications.

There is no essential business need to upgrade to Yosemite, except for that it is the latest OS X. Apple will commit most of their support resources to its development, security, and maintenance over older OS X versions. Before upgrading to Yosemite, we recommend creating a backup of the computer with either CrashPlan PROe or another similar software.

Important Note about Apple ID's

ITAC discourages the use of personal Apple ID's on Texas State-owned computers. Please do not upgrade your Texas State-owned computer to OS X Yosemite using your personal Apple ID.

Support Summary
