Technology Resources is pleased to make available Microsoft Office software for both Windows and Mac OS X through the Microsoft Student Select Program. Texas State is subsidizing the cost of the software for students, using Student Computer Use fees, in order to provide the software for only $35.00 (license and media) at the University Bookstore.
Please note that other Microsoft software products (such as operating systems) are not included in the university Student Select program as implemented at Texas State.
Obtaining Software
Students may obtain Microsoft® Office, a Macintosh or Windows-based version, at the University Bookstore, located in the LBJ Student Center. Review the Microsoft End User Agreement available at the Bookstore.
License
The license obtained through the Student Select program is a perpetual license. Students may continue to use the program after leaving the university.
Microsoft Product Activation
Microsoft Corp. is committed to the protection of intellectual property rights and to the reduction of software piracy worldwide. Product activation technology included in Microsoft Office is aimed at reducing software piracy (the number of illegal copies of a product) as well as ensuring that Microsoft's customers are receiving the product quality that they expect. This technology, which helps protect intellectual property, enables Microsoft to offer CDs to students.
