Technology Resources recommends that users upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.
Below are some steps to help assist you with this simple upgrade.
Step 1: Determine which version of Internet Explorer you are currently have installed
There are two methods to tell which version of Microsoft Internet Explorer you currently have installed on your computer.
Method 1: Check the icons
Look at the icon that you click on to launch Internet Explorer, compare them to the icons shown below to figure out which version of Internet Explorer you are running.
- Internet Explorer 6 icon: If your icon looks like the one below, you are currently using Internet Explorer 6 and will need to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 using the directions in this e-mail.

- Internet Explorer 7 icon: If your icon looks like the one below, you have already upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 and no further action is required.
Method 2: Manually Check the Version Number
- Open Internet Explorer as if you were going to navigate to a website.
- In the menu bar, click on Help / About Internet Explorer.
- The information screen will appear for Internet Explorer. Simply compare your version to the screenshots below to determine if you will need to upgrade or not.
Internet Explorer Version 6: If your screen looks like the one below, you are currently using Internet Explorer 6 and will need to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 using the directions in this e-mail.

Internet Explorer Version 7: If your screen looks like the one below, you have already upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 and no further action is required.

Step 2: Install Internet Explorer 7
Once you have determined that need to upgrade using the methods above, simply follow the steps below to install Internet Explorer 7:
- Click the following link to download the Internet Explorer 7 upgrade package: http://webapps.tr.txstate.edu/css/programs/IE7.exe.
- When prompted, click on Run as shown below.

- When prompted click Run once again as shown below.

- When prompted click Next as shown below.

- When you have read the license terms, simply click on I Accept to continue.

- On the next screen, make sure the checkbox is selected, then click Next as shown below.

- When prompted to restart your computer, make sure you save any open documents, then click Restart Now as shown below.

- When your computer restarts, you should now be upgraded to the latest version of Internet Explorer 7. This completes the upgrade process.
