PASW Statistics (formerly SPSS Statistics) is a comphrensive set of statistical tools that provides Texas State users with advanced statistical analysis of data.
PASW Statistics (SPSS) for Windows as licensed for Texas State University requires an active connection to the Internet in order to communicate to a server for license verification.

Technology Resources is pleased to provide Texas State faculty/staff users the ability to download and install PASW Statistics (SPSS) base, advanced and regression modules for Windows to their workstations at no charge to departments.
Prerequisites
- You will need a faculty/staff NetID and password.
- You will need to have administrator privileges to the computer.

To install PASW Statistics (SPSS) for Windows, you must agree to comply with the SPSS Software License Terms and the Texas State Software Code of Ethics as listed below:
SPSS Software License Terms
I (ASSOCIATE), who is associated through my department with Texas State University-San Marcos (LICENSEE) agree as follows:
Subject to the provisions contained herein, ASSOCIATE may use the SPSS Inc. copyrighted computer software products which LICENSEE has provided in accordance with its agreement with SPSS Inc.
ASSOCIATE acknowledges that these products are copyrighted and that SPSS Inc. retains all title and ownership rights to the products. ASSOCIATE agrees not to copy or permit others to copy the products, in whole or in part.
ASSOCIATE agrees to use the products under this agreement only on a computer which is 1) owned or leased by LICENSEE or 2) owned by ASSOCIATE. ASSOCIATE further agrees that the products must remain under ASSOCIATE's control, and that resale or other transfer is explicitly prohibited.
ASSOCIATE agrees to use the products only for ASSOCIATE's or LICENSEE's own data processing requirements, and not for commercial time-sharing, rental or service bureau use.
ASSOCIATE agrees not to create , or attempt to create, or permit or help others to create, the source code from the products furnished under this agreement. ASSOCIATE agrees that it will not reverse engineer or decompile the products.
Should ASSOCIATE remove the computer(s) on which the products are used under this agreement from the department, ASSOCIATE agrees to notify LICENSEE promptly of new location.
Should ASSOCIATE no longer be associated with LICENSEE, or if advised by LICENSEE that the site license with SPSS Inc. has been terminated, ASSOCIATE agrees to return to LICENSEE or destroy at once any and all copies in ASSOCIATE's possession, and to forward written notice to LICENSEE that all programs and materials containing the products have been destroyed or deleted from all computer libraries and storage and memory devices, and are no longer in use or usable by LICENSEE.
Software Code of Ethics for
Texas State University-San Marcos
Software will be used only in accordance with its license agreement. Unless otherwise provided in the license, any duplication of copyrighted software, except for backup and archival purposes, is a violation of copyright law. In addition to violating copyright law, unauthorized duplication of software is contrary to Texas State University-San Marcos's standards of conduct. The following points are to be followed to comply with software license agreements:
- All software is used in accordance with its license agreements.
- Licensed software will be provided to all users who need it per the Supported Desktop Software Initiative. No Texas State user may make any unauthorized copies of any software under any circumstances. Anyone found copying software other than for backup purposes is subject to disciplinary action.
- The use of any unauthorized copies of software in our organization will not be tolerated. Any person illegally reproducing software can be subject to civil and criminal penalties including fines and imprisonment. We do not condone illegal copying of software under any circumstances and anyone whom makes, uses, or otherwise acquires unauthorized software may be disciplined.
- No user may give software to any outsiders, including students, clients, customers, family or friends.
- Any user who determines that there may be a misuse of software within the organization will notify the Software Licensing Coordinator for Technology Resources or department head.
- All software used by the organization on organization-owned computers will be purchased through appropriate procedures.

- Texas State has entered into an Agreement with SPSS. This software is made available to you because of that Agreement. The software install is intended for the sole use of the faculty and staff member at Texas State University-San Marcos.
I have read the software code of ethics for Texas State University-San Marcos. I am fully aware of the organization's software compliance policies and agree to abide by the policies. I understand that violation of any above policies may result in disciplinary sanctions.
