iTerm is a free open source Mac OS X native terminal emulation program that can be used to connect to the OpenVMS mainframe computer systems (Academic and Admin) using the SSH protocol.
In order to use function keys like F11, it will be necessary that you change the key definitions used by the Exposé feature of Mac OS X:
Select the Apple menu, then System Preferences... and open the Exposé & Spaces icon.
It is recommended that you can re-assign each Exposé function to a function key by holding down a modifier key.

For example, to assign Shift-F11 to the All Windows Exposé function, you will hold down the shift key while selecting the pop-down button next to All windows: in Exposé. If you select "-", you will disable the calling of that Exposé function using any key sequence.
In order for the function keys on the Apple keyboard to function as terminal keys, just will also need to:
Select Keyboard & Mouse in System Preferences and the Keyboard tab.
Check the option Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.

However, if you prefer using the function keys across the top with iTunes and other Apple programs, you can leave this option unchecked but while in iTerm you will need to hold down the fn key on the middle kaypad with the function key in order for that function key to work properly in iTerm. For example, for F11 you will need to hold down the fn key and press F11.
