Repair

The Technology Resources Repair Center located in MCS 262 provides maintenance and repair services for computers and their peripherals. Repair service is available to all students, staff, and faculty of Texas State University-San Marcos for university-owned equipment and privately owned equipment.

The Technology Resources Repair Center carries the following warranty recognitions:

Dell Warranty Repairs
Dell Computer Corporation recognizes Technology Resources of Texas State University as a Service Provider in the Dell Premier Access Program.

Apple Warranty Repairs
Texas State is an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Work Order

You can use the Computer Repair Work Request form to request repair of university owned computers and peripherals.  This form must accompany each item submitted for repair and to request pickup.

Repair Service Contracts

Yearly repair service contracts for University-owned equipment may be purchased from the Technology Resources Repair Center for equipment used for instructional and/or administrative uses.

Eligibility - All equipment submitted for repair must be owned by the University and possess a valid University inventory number. Units not marked by an inventory tag must be identifiable as part of a marked system.  The equipment identified to be put under service contract shall be subject to inspection by Technology Resources to determine that it is in good operating condition.

Equipment for instructional use - Instructional use includes all computer equipment used in student labs and in faculty offices.  Maintenance for instructional equipment is provided through the computer service fee charged to students.  Only instructional equipment submitted will be covered.

Equipment for administrative use - Administrative use includes all computers used in administrative offices, including academic department offices. The user department is responsible for the cost of all equipment covered under maintenance that is used for administrative purposes

To place equipment on contract, download the Repair Service Contract form, complete the requested information, and send to the Technology Resources Repair Center.  Be sure to attach the Computer Equipment Repair Service Contract - Add Items form as well, listing all items to be placed on contract.

Use this form to add items to your contract, completing all columns needed.  To obtain a list of computers purchased by your department through Technology Resources, contact the Technology Resources Repair Center at 245-ITAC (4822) or e-mail PCrepair@txstate.edu. Only items on the Supported Equipment List may be placed on contract.

Non-contract repairs - Texas State equipment

Repair service on University-owned equipment not covered by a maintenance contract is billed on a time and materials basis. The labor rate is $20.00 per hour with a two-hour minimum. There is an additional charge for if parts needed. Contact the Technology Resources Repair Center at 245-ITAC (4822) or e-mail PCrepair@txstate.edu for more information.

Repairs - privately owned equipment

Repair service on non University-owned equipment is billed on a time and materials basis. There is an evaluation fee of $20.00 if the repair is declined. The labor rate is $25.00 per hour with a two hour minimum. There is an additional charge for parts if needed. Delivery

It is the responsibility of the user to transport equipment to be repaired to the Repair Center in MCS. Should that not be possible, we will make arrangements for transportation to and from the service center at the current pickup and delivery cost ($10.00). This fee is waived for Dell computers under warranty.
