Technology Resources provides a streamlined process to request a computer that provides discounted pricing and faster delivery for Texas State standard Dell and Apple computers.
Our standard Apple and Dell computers include desktop, laptop, and small laptop models that have been carefully selected to satisfy the needs of most users. They will function well within the Texas State network environment and should handle supported Windows and Macintosh software for a minimum of three years. Options that are popular or have been evaluated as beneficial and cost effective are available as upgrades on our standard computers. Due to specially negotiated pricing and logistic advantages, our standard configurations will generally offer better value and be received in less time than custom configurations.
If you have questions about computer purchases or would like help selecting a configuration to meet your needs, contact the IT Assistance Center.
Software Image Information
Standard computers that are ordered with the software image will have standard Texas State software and configuration settings loaded by Technology Resources. The software image contains software that enables faculty and staff to do general word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, e-mail, anti-virus, and other tasks that support everyday work activities.
In order to lower costs, computers imaged at Dell with our software image are licensed for the Windows Vista Home operating system. The computers are imaged with Windows XP which is allowed through our Microsoft Campus Agreement.
New Purchasing Office procedures mandate that Dell computers be purchased through BOBCATALOG. As part of this process, you must also complete a BOBCATALOG Computer Request form.
