POP/IMAP Email Client Setup

There are two basic changes that must be made to your email client settings to modify your client to work with the Exchange mail server. The incoming mail server must be changed to synergy.txstate.edu and the SSL setting for the incoming mail server must be turned on.

Here are the basic email settings for Texas State:

Email address: yourNetID@txstate.edu
Incoming user name (POP,IMAP): yourNetID
Outgoing user name (POP,IMAP): yourNetID
Incoming mail server (POP,IMAP): synergy.txstate.edu
SSL for POP/IMAP: on/yes/required
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.txstate.edu *

* Important: If you are using another ISP service (i.e., you use a cable or DSL modem with Time Warner or CenturyTel), you will need to use the SMTP server name of your ISP in order to send email messages.  Contact your ISP or read your ISP documentation to determine the SMTP (outgoing) mail server.
