In order to set up Outlook with Exchange, you must be using a computer connected directly to the Texas State campus network. This includes all machines located on campus, in the Round Rock extension campus, and those connected using the encrypted wireless or dial-up network. Texas State users connected to the Internet using other ISPs will be able to access their email using the web-based BobcatMail.
Open Microsoft Word to verify what version of Office is installed. Once in Word, select the Windows menu in the upper left , click Word Options along bottom right, select Resources and then click About. The version number should be at least Word 2007 (12.xxxx.xxxx) SP1. If you are running a previous release of Microsoft Office such as Office 2003, it is recommended that you upgrade to Office 2007. Contact your Technical Support Person in your department to upgrade or faculty/staff workstations can be upgraded to Office 2007 over the campus network if part of the Texas State domain.
Be certain that you have Office 2007 updated with the latest Service packs and updates before you proceed with the configuration of Outlook.
The updates to Microsoft Office are available by using Internet Explorer 6.0+ to download from:
