Updating Entourage 2004/2008 for an Existing Exchange Account

Using the Update Exchange Settings script to change your account settings

Technology Services has developed an Applescript that Macintosh users of Entourage can download and run to update and insure that the Exchange account settings are set correctly for you.

To use this script, do the following:

  1. Download the Update Exchange Settings

  2. Open the Entourage-Update-Exchange folder on your desktop.
  3. Double click on Install Update Exchange Settings.
    This will place the Update Exchange Settings script in the proper location to use from within Entourage.





  4. Open Entourage and log in to your Exchange mail.
  5. From the Scroll menu on the far right of the menu bar, select Update Exchange Settings


  6. You will be prompted for your NetID.  Enter ONLY you NetID (initials of your name and number sequence).

  7. You will be prompted that the script will update the account settings.
    Verify that your NetID is correct and click Yes to proceed.

  8. The script runs and updates your settings.

  9. You may be prompted to re-enter your password.  Click Cancel.
  10. It is recommended that you quit Entourage and re-run.
    Send a message to yourself to check email connectivity.

Manually Change or Verify the Account Set Up

Run Entourage

From the Tools menu, select Accounts.

Select the Exchange account from the list and click the Edit toolbar button.

Select the Account Settings tab.

The Domain and Exchange server fields need to be updated as follows:

  1. Domain: txstate
  2. Exchange server: synergy.txstate.edu/exchange/yourNetID@txstate.edu

    Replace yourNetID with your actual NetID. See the example screen shot below.

Verify that the option DAV service requires secure connection (SSL) is checked.

Click OK to close the Edit Account window and close the Accounts window.

Important: Quit Entourage and then re-open it.

Note: Without the above changes in place, Entourage may not be able to connect to your mailbox to retrieve your new messages after your mailbox has been moved to Exchange 2007 by Technology Resources.  When you attempt to send a message, you will receive "An unknown error (170) occurred."  message:
