Using the Create Exchange Settings script
Technology Services has developed an applescript that can be downloaded and used to create an Exchange account in either Entourage 2004 or Entourage 2008. The Create Exchange Settings script is intended for first time use of Entourage so it expects there to be no existing account. If you are already using Entourage 2004/2008 with Exchange and would like to insure that your existing Exchange account is configured properly, see the instructions on using the Update Exchange Settings script.
To use this script, do the following:
- Download the Create Exchange Settings script application.
- Open the Entourage-Create-Exchange folder on your desktop.
- Double click on Create Exchange Settings.

- You will be prompted to run the script.

- Entourage will open in the background. If an email account is detected in Entourage, you will see an alert window that will ask whether you want to continue the set up. If you are uncertain about the existing account, it is recommended that you click No, just use Entourage. The Create Exchange Settings script is intended for first time use of Entourage so it expects there to be no existing account.

- Entourage will open up in the background and you will be prompted for your NetID.
Enter ONLY you NetID (initials of your name and number sequence).

- You will be prompted for your full name as you would like to appear in email messages. .

- You will be prompted to verify your email address.
If you have an email alias, you could update the email address to use it.
Verify that your email address is correct and click OK to proceed.

- You be prompted to review the information before proceeding.
Click the Yes button to continue and add the new Exchange account in Entourage.
If there is a problem, click the No button and re-run the script to start over.

- The script will run and add the new Exchange account settings based on the
information provided.

- You will be prompted for your email password and Entourage will connect to the
Exchange server. It may take several minutes before Entourage is completely synced
to your Exchange mailbox.
Send a message to yourself to check email connectivity.

Manually Verify the Account Set Up
Run Entourage. From the Tools menu, select Accounts. Double click the Exchange account from the list.
Select the Account Settings tab.
The Domain and Exchange server fields should be as follows:
- Domain: TXSTATE
- Exchange server: synergy.txstate.edu/exchange/yourNetID@txstate.edu
(Replace yourNetID with your actual NetID. See the example screen shot below.) - Verify that the option DAV service requires secure connection (SSL) is checked.

Click the Advanced tab.
The Public folders server and LDAP server fields should be as follows:
- Public folders server: synergy.txstate.edu/public/
- LDAP server: matrix.txstate.edu
- Verify that the option DAV service requires secure connection (SSL) is checked.

Click OK to close the Edit Account window and close the Accounts window.
